The principal object of this multi-volume treatise is to provide, in a self-contained manner, comprehensive coverage of the mainstream of group representation theory. The audience for these volumes consists of aspiring graduate students and mature mathematicians working in the field of group representations. No mathematical knowledge is presupposed beyond the rudiments of abstract algebra, set theory and field theory; however, a certain maturity in mathematical reasoning is required. Apart from a few obvious exceptions, the volumes are entirely self-contained. The style of the presentation is

This is an all-encompassing and exhaustive exposition of the theory of infinite-dimensional Unitary Representations of Locally Compact Groups and its generalization to representations of Banach algebras. The presentation is detailed, accessible, and self-contained (except for some elementary knowledge in algebra, topology, and abstract measure theory). In the later chapters the reader is brought to the frontiers of present-day knowledge in the area of Mackey normal subgroup analysisand its generalization to the context of Banach *-Algebraic Bundles.

The ICRA VII was held at Cocoyoc, Mexico, in August 1994. This was the second time that the ICRA was held in Mexico: ICRA III took place in Puebla in 1980. The 1994 conference included 62 lectures, all listed in these Proceedings. Not all contributions presented, however, appear in this book. Most papers in this volume are in final form with complete proofs, with the only exception being the paper of Leszczynski and Skowronski, Auslander algebras of tame representation type, that the editors thought useful to include.

Researchers in the fields of finite groups, representation theory, and algebra will appreciate this volume for it presents an excellent view of the many significant developments in the representation theory of finite groups. The papers in these proceedings were presented at the Summer Research Institute on Representations of Finite Groups, held at Humboldt State University in Arcata, California in July 1986. There has been intense research in the representation theory of finite groups in recent years.Particularly striking is the influence of algebraic geometry and cohomology theory in the modu

These thirteen essays offer not only the "representations of Swift" to which its title refers but also a representation of Swift scholarship at the close of the twentieth century and a return to fundamental questions about the life, writing, and views of Swift, issues raised in part by literary scholarship’s return to historicism but also powerfully suggestive of a return to biography.
